Guruvayoor Kesavan was a temple elephant, he was the only elephant who was lucky enough to carry the idol of Sree Guruvayoorappan and of several other temples during festivals and all processions related to temple activities until his last breath. He died on 1976 December 02 on a festval day at sree Guruvayoor Temple. This is a statue built to respect and commemorate the greatness of this animal.
